School Superintendent To Speak at Temple Beth-El

Kenneth R. Bossert, EdD, superintendent of Great Neck Public Schools (GNPS), will be the guest speaker at Temple Beth-El’s Shabbat service on Friday, May 17, at 7 p.m.

The entire community is welcome to attend as Dr. Bossert discusses his vision for public education in Great Neck and shares how temple members can help him realize that vision.

Dr. Bossert began as superintendent of GNPS on August 1, 2023, after serving as superintendent of the Port Jefferson and Elwood UFSD for the previous 12 years.

His prior experience includes being an elementary classroom teacher, elementary school principal and assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction.

He serves as both an officer in the New York State Council of School Superintendents and treasurer of SCOPE and was past president of the Suffolk County Council of School Superintendents.

The adjunct professor at Long Island University and Stony Brook University received his doctorate in Educational Administration and Technology in 2008. His dissertation focused on The Harmful Effects of High-Stakes Standardized Testing on the Elementary Student.

Dr. Bossert has been married for 25 years and has two college-age daughters.
