Baldwin

Arrest for Assault & Larceny

The NCPD First Squad reports the arrest of a New Jersey man for an incident that occurred on Saturday, July 13, at 4:30 p.m. in Baldwin. According to detectives, officers responded to a disturbance at Coes Neck Park located at 1240 Coes Neck Road. Upon arrival, officers were informed that defendant Horace Rattigan, 36, of 15 Montclair Avenue, Paterson was involved in a verbal argument with a female victim, 39, and removed the victim’s cell phone and fled the scene on foot. Officers located the defendant nearby and attempted to place him into custody. Defendant Rattigan became violent and combative, and after a brief struggle, officers were able to secure the defendant. An officer sustained an injury during the course of the arrest and was transported to an area hospital for evaluation and treatment. Further investigation revealed the defendant had violated an active order of protection. Defendant Horace Rattigan is charged with second-degree assault, second-degree criminal contempt, fourth-degree grand larceny, obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest. He was arraigned on Sunday, July 14, at First District Court, 99 Main Street Hempstead.

East Meadow

Arrest for Assault

The NCPD Third Squad reports the arrest of an East Meadow woman for an incident that occurred on Thursday, July 11, at 6:30 p.m. in East Meadow. According to detectives, officers responded to Nassau University Medical Center located at 2201 Hempstead Turnpike where a female victim, a registered nurse, 45, was performing her duties caring for defendant April Gologorsky, 47, of 405 Bellmore Road. The defendant became agitated and with a closed fist struck the victim in the face, breaking her glasses, causing a laceration to her face and substantial pain. Officers placed the defendant under arrest without incident. Defendant April Gologorsky is charged with second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal mischief. She will be arraigned when medically practical. 

East Rockaway

Unusual Incident

The NCPD Public Information Office reports the rescue of a protected class of bird that occurred on Thursday, July 11, at 9:00 a.m. in East Rockaway. According to police, officers from the Nassau County Police Department Marine Bureau located an injured osprey in the vicinity of Harbor Road. Officers safely removed the bird from the roadway. They brought it inside of a building for shelter, safety, and comfort then contacted the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. The osprey was safely transported by a New York State, federally licensed, wildlife rehabilitator to a rehabilitation facility where it will be treated for its injuries and then released back into the wild.

Franklin Square

Arrest for Assault

The NCPD Fifth Squad detectives report the arrest of a Hicksville man for an assault that occurred on Wednesday, July 10, at 1:55 p.m. in Franklin Square. According to detectives, the owner of OK Gas Station located at 66 New Hyde Park Road, had a verbal dispute with an employee of a neighboring business regarding parking vehicles on his property. The argument escalated and the business owner, Daljit Singh, 58, of 200 Brittle Lane, struck the male victim, 64, with a small knife on the left side of his neck and arm. Singh was arrested without incident. The victim suffered two small lacerations and was transported to an area hospital for evaluation and treatment. Defendant Singh is charged with first-degree attempted assault, second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned on Thursday, July 11, at First District Court, Hempstead.

Locust Valley

Burglary

The NCPD Second Squad reports the details of a burglary that occurred on Sunday, July 14, at 3:47 a.m. in Locust Valley. According to detectives, Second Precinct officers responded to Citgo Gas Station, located at 320 Forest Avenue for a commercial burglary. Upon arrival, it was determined that an unknown subject smashed the front window and entered the store. Further investigation revealed that an undetermined amount of US currency and cigarettes had been removed from the store. The subject left the scene in an unknown direction. The investigation is ongoing. Detectives request anyone with information regarding the above incident to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS or call 911. Roosevelt

Vehicular Accident

The Nassau County Police Department First Squad reports the details of a vehicular accident that occurred on Monday, July 15, at 4:00 p.m. in Roosevelt. According to detectives, a 34-year-old male operating a 2021 Honda Accord was traveling westbound on Thoma Place where he struck a male juvenile, 11, attempting to cross the street. The male juvenile suffered a leg injury and was transported via Nassau County police helicopter to Cohen Children’s Medical Center for evaluation and treatment of his injuries. The driver remained at the scene. No criminality is suspected at this time. The investigation is ongoing.

Grand Larceny

The NCPD First Squad reports the details of a grand larceny/elder scam that occurred on Tuesday, July 9, at 3:00 p.m. in Roosevelt. According to detectives, a 76-year-old female was walking on Nassau Road near the intersection of Debevoise Avenue where she was approached by an unknown male offering to help carry her groceries. The victim happily obliged and when they arrived at her home, the unknown male explained how he was in possession of a winning lottery ticket but was unable to claim his winnings. The victim offered to cash the ticket on his behalf but was instructed by the male he needed something as collateral. The victim then relinquished various jewelry items but was advised it wasn’t enough and she needed to withdraw $2,000.00 USD from the bank. A short time later, an unknown female subject operating a white 4-door sedan arrived at her residence and transported both the victim and the male to the Bethpage Federal Credit Union located at 405 Nassau Road where she made the withdrawal. When the victim finally arrived back home, she realized she was scammed and contacted police. The first subject is described as a male approximately 40-years-old, 5’9” tall with a medium build wearing a blue shirt, a black baseball hat and glasses. Unknown description of the female operating the vehicle at this time. The investigation is ongoing. The Nassau County Police Department urges the community to be on alert and to remind vulnerable family members, friends, and neighbors about potential scams or frauds.
