Dennis Raverty – Henry Rousseau A ‘Primitive’ among the Modernist 

1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. (Garden City Public Library, 60 7th St, Garden City) Rousseau was a self-trained painter and customs official in turn-of-the-century Paris, whose fantastic, dreamlike worlds inspired Picasso and the Cubists, but was also a major influence on artists like Chagall or the later Surrealists, who likewise explored the dark regions of the imagination. No registration required. This program has been funded by the Friends of the Garden City Public Library.

Betty Rodriguez Cancer Foundation Free Mammogram Day

8:00 a.m. – 11 a.m. (Westbury Memorial Public Library, 445 Jefferson St, Westbury) Register to receive a Free Breast Cancer Screening to those with and without health insurance. Bobby Sings Bobby – Outdoor Concert on the Lawn

7:00 p.m. (Floral Park Public Library, 17 Caroline Place, Floral Park) We’ll be enjoying the beautiful music of Bobby Sings Bobby on our front lawn. Bring your lawn chairs, & blankets to this magical concert, everyone is welcome! No rain date, no registration required.

Paint a My Little Pony

4:30 – 5:00 p.m. (Mineola Memorial Library, 195 Marcellus Road, Mineola) Paint a “My Little Pony” figure with bright colors to take home with you! Presented by Miss Vivian the Librarian. Dress for a mess! Suited for grades 1 and up. Email mmlkidsprograms@nassaulibrary.org to register. Please include your library card number, the child’s grade, the child’s full name, and the name of the program you are interested in.  Failure to provide this information can lead to a delay in your sign up. Storybook Stroll: “Berry Song” by Michaela Goade

10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. (Old Westbury Gardens, 71 Old Westbury Road, Old Westbury) Open your ears to a modern tale as we stroll the Gardens and, later, create a unique take home craft. Storybook Strolls start at the Beech Tree (next to Westbury House), and end at the Thatched Cottage. Suited for children ages 3-5. Included with admission.

Music For a Sunday Afternoon: Hungrytown

3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. (Old Westbury Gardens, 71 Old Westbury Road, Old Westbury) A Gardens favorite, the husband-and-wife folk duo Hungrytown – Rebecca Hall and Ken Anderson, joined by cellist Suzanne Mueller, closes out the series with a program of their original music blending traditional and modern influences. Free with admission. Concert held at the Barn at Orchard Hill (rain or shine).

Wire Jewelry: Bubble Bracelet with Donna Irvine

6 p.m. start (Mineola Memorial Library, 195 Marcellus Road, Mineola) Jewelry Designer Donna Irvine teaches wire wrapping techniques to make this Bohemian-style bracelet. Students can customize their own creations by choosing wire color and bead color. $10 materials fee due at registration. Cash only. Please have the exact amount. No refunds.
