Each summer, Nassau County Comptroller Phillips hosts a summer internship program that provides graduate, college, or high school students with the opportunity for career exploration and development, and to learn new skills.

This year Roslyn High School student Allena Kim — who is also a former martial arts student of Comptroller Phillips at Kwon’s Wellness in Roslyn — worked as an intern at the Comptroller’s Office during her summer break, assisting both the Administration and Communications Team.

“During the time Allena spent working with our team, I learned that she had taken the skills and lessons she learned in martial arts and applied them to her studies in school and extracurricular activities,” said Comptroller Phillips. “I want to thank Allena for all her hard work and hope this hands-on experience has helped prepare her for the future.”
