Carle Place

Commercial Burglary

The NCPD Third Squad reports on a commercial burglary that occurred on Wednesday, July 17, at 1:26 a.m. in Carle Place. According to detectives, an unknown male subject forcefully entered Blooming Nails & Spa located at 104 Westbury Avenue by throwing a rock through the front glass door. The subject removed an undetermined amount of U.S. currency before exiting the rear of the store and fleeing the scene on foot eastbound towards Westbury Avenue. The subject is described as a White male, 5’09”-5’10” tall, 160 lbs., with brown hair wearing a long-sleeved blue plaid button-down shirt, blue jeans, black sneakers, gloves and a mask. The investigation is ongoing. Detectives request anyone with information regarding the above-listed incident to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS or to call 911. Commercial Burglary

The Third Squad reports on a commercial burglary that occurred on Wednesday, July 17, between 12:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. in Carle Place. According to detectives, an unknown male subject forcefully entered Sunny Nail Spa located at 300 Voice Road by throwing a rock through the front glass door. The subject removed an undetermined amount of U.S. currency before exiting the store and fleeing the scene in an unknown direction. There is no further description at this time. The investigation is ongoing. Detectives request anyone with information regarding the above-listed incident to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS or to call 911. Manhasset

Robbery/Arrest

The NCPD Sixth Squad reports the arrest of two Flushing men for an incident that occurred on Tuesday, July 16, at 4:24 p.m. in Manhasset. According to detectives, an officer was patrolling through the Macy’s parking lot located at 1100 Northern Boulevard when he was notified by a Macy’s loss prevention associate that two males had just stolen items and were fleeing in a black Kia. Officers initiated a vehicle and traffic law stop on the vehicle in the vicinity of Northern Boulevard and Community Drive. The vehicle’s occupants, defendants Lawrence Davis, 37, of 46-18 194th Street, and Hulin Piao, 42, of 139-06 34th Road, were both placed under arrest without incident. Subsequent to the investigation, it was determined that Lawrence Davis was involved in a physical altercation with a loss prevention associate while fleeing the store. Both defendants are charged with second-degree robbery. Defendant Hulin Piao is also charged with criminal possession of an anti-security item. They were both arraigned on Wednesday, July 17th, in First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.

North New Hyde Park

Arrest for Grand Larceny

The NCPD Major Case Bureau reports the arrest of a Baldwin man for an elder scam/grand larceny that occurred on Tuesday, June 6, in North New Hyde Park. According to detectives, a 73-year-old male victim received a notification on his computer stating that his device had been compromised and he needed to contact the number provided to protect his assets. The victim contacted an unknown subject who claimed to work for the Federal Trade Commission and was instructed to purchase six gold bars totaling approximately $390,000 from JM Bullion. The victim complied, and an unknown male in an unknown vehicle arrived at his residence to retrieve the gold bars. After a thorough investigation, the Major Case Bureau, in conjunction with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Suffolk County Police Department, arrested defendant Yash J. Shah, 25, of 701 Prospect Street.

Shah is charged with second-degree grand larceny. He was arraigned on Tuesday, July 16, at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead. The Nassau County Police Department urges the community to be on alert and to remind vulnerable family members, friends and neighbors about potential scams or frauds.

Seaford

Burglary

The NCPD Seventh Squad reports the details of a burglary that occurred on Wednesday, July 17, at 11:48 a.m. in Seaford. According to detectives, a 52-year-old female victim was inside her South Seamans Neck Road residence when she heard a noise coming from downstairs. The victim went down the stairs and saw two unknown subjects running out of the front door. The subjects entered a dark-colored SUV and fled southbound on South Seamans Neck Road. The investigation is ongoing. Both subjects are described as male, wearing an orange hat, black/blue traffic vest and black mask. Valley Stream

Arrest

The Nassau County Police Department Fifth Squad reports the arrest of a Valley Stream man for an assault that occurred on Monday, July 22, at 12:30 a.m. in Valley Stream. According to detectives, officers responded to J & F Jimenez Deli located at 240 Rockaway Avenue for a disturbance. Upon police arrival, a female victim, 31, stated while attempting to break up a fight the defendant Jose Velasquez, 38, of 27 W Hawthorne Avenue brandished a knife resulting in the victim sustaining a laceration to her left hand. The defendant was placed under arrest without incident. The victim refused medical attention. No other injuries were reported. Defendant Jose Velasquez is charged with second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned on Monday, July 22, at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.

Woodbury

Arrest for Weapon Possession

The NCPD Second Squad reports the arrest of a Brooklyn man for criminal possession of a weapon for an incident that occurred on Friday, July 19, at 9:11 p.m. in Woodbury. According to detectives, Criminal Intelligence Rapid Response Team (CIRRT) officers while on routine patrol observed a gray 2011 Mercedes-Benz traveling northbound on Woodbury Road at a high rate of speed. Officers activated their emergency lights and conducted a vehicle and traffic law stop. After a police investigation was conducted a loaded 9mm Ruger handgun and a switchblade knife were recovered from inside the vehicle. The operator of the vehicle, Emmanuel E. Pressley, 20, of 1979 Bergen Street was placed under arrest without further incident.

Pressley is charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a firearm, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and multiple vehicle traffic law violations. He was arraigned on Saturday, July 20, at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
