A Bayville man was arrested on Sept. 3 after his 11-year-old son accessed his shotgun and threatened one of his peers with it.
Alfredo Caceres, 55, was arrested and charged with failure to store firearms in the first degree safely.
According to Nassau County Police, a 13-year-old boy was riding his bicycle on 7th St. when the 11-year-old exited his house with a shotgun in hand. Caceres’ son verbally threatened the bicyclist, telling him to leave the property. The bicyclist peddled away and informed his parents of the incident, police said.
Officers responded to the 7th St. residence, where Caceres told police that he owns numerous weapons. Police said the weapons were easily accessible.
Caceres voluntarily relinquished an unloaded Mossberg Maverick 20 gauge shotgun, an unloaded Mossberg 12 Gauge shotgun and an unloaded Crossman .22 caliber pellet gun, police said.
Caceres was arrested again on Sept. 8 under two new charges. According to New York State Ecourts, Caceres was charged with two counts of assault in the third degree and one count of endangering the welfare of a child regarding an incident on Sept. 7.
Caceres has pleaded not guilty to both of these charges and the Sept. 3 charges. His next appearance is on Sept. 25.
