The term “three-peat” was coined by Coach Pat Riley who led the Los Angeles Lakers to three consecutive championship wins in the late 1980s. The Oyster Bay High School Varsity Baseball Team just accomplished a ‘three-peat’ of their own winning the Nassau County Class C Championship for the third year in a row.
The Baymen faced off against a tough East Rockaway team in a best of three county championship play off. Jake Robinson took the mound in game one and pitched a shut out. The Baymen offense lent their support putting up three runs on the board, including a home run by Billy Clark.
The Baymen went for the sweep in game two by sending Chris Kelly to the mound. Marc Douglas hit one out of the park to contribute to the 4 to 1 victory and the series sweep for the Baymen.
The teams from Port Jefferson and Pierson/BH will battle for the Suffolk County title and the winner will face the Baymen for the Long Island Championship on June 8. Jake Robinson will get the ball as the starting pitcher.
The Oyster Bay High School Junior Varsity Baseball team also enjoyed a stellar season with a record of 17-1.
