Walking Tour

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, 1 Bungtown Rd., Cold Spring Harbor, invites the community to a guided walking tour of its historic buildings and botanical landscape. The tour focuses on CSHL’s historic architecture and its Nobel Prize legacy and provides a peek into the cutting edge scientific research taking place. The tour will also cover the indoor and outdoor art works featured on the 117 acre shore-side campus. The tours are primarily outdoors and take place regardless of weather conditions. Areas include stairs and steep hills and are not recommended for people who have difficulty walking. Tours assemble at 10 a.m. in the Grace Auditorium lobby. Reservations are required at least seven days in advance and a minimum of 10 participants are required for each tour. There is a non-refundable tour fee of $5 per person that can be paid in advance or on arrival. Reach for the Stars Teen Talent Finals

Nassau County’s teen talent contest, Reach for the Stars, will hold its finals at Eisenhower Park’s Lakeside Theatre. Radio Disney personalities will host the show, which will begin at 7:15 p.m. Admission is free. Twenty-five Nassau County teenagers were chosen as finalists from an audition pool of 68 contestants. A panel of judges, including former Reach for the Stars winner and American Idol finalist, Kevin Covais, and professionals in the music and entertainment industry, will have the job of choosing the winners from a very talented group of young vocalists. The Taming of the Shrew

Presented by A Small Company In America. Directed by Scott E. Jarvis of Port Washington with a great cast of new and veteran ASCIA members. The cast includes John F. Anderson (Sea Cliff), Susan L. Blake (Glen Cove), Courtney Connolly (Rockville Centre), Jesse Lee Combs (Lindenhurst) Arielle Harding (Mill Neck), Anthony Mattera (Holbrook), Ashley Mattera (Holbrook), Karl K. Melissen (Deer Park), Greg Moller (Levittown), Brian Rossi (Levittown), Michael Schlapp (West Hempstead), Paul Wallace (Franklin Square) and Stephen T. Wagner (Hicksville). Your credit score is your key to getting approved for loans as well as qualifying for lower interest rates. Useful for adults as well as teenagers going off to college, this free presentation will include important information about credit cards, credit reports and credit scoring. Summer Fest Concert In the Park

Oyster Bay Sundown

Featuring the Strummin’ and Drummin’ Show, a one-of-a-kind kids music show. Pack a picnic, bring a blanket or lawn chairs for seating and bring the family to Planting Fields for an evening of fun, children’s activities and live music. Children’s Summer Workshops

All classes will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon at Raynham Hall Museum, 20 W. Main St. Call 922-6808. Small class sizes and a caring and unique environment for your child. Children, ages 5 to 12, will experience history hands-on with museum educators and special guests for an unforgettable experience. Family members $125 per session; non-family members $175 per session. Family memberships $45 per year. Refunds granted only if submitted 14 days ahead of the start of the workshop.

Golf/Tennis Tournament

Freeport H.S. Class of 1959 50th Reunion

Member of the Freeport High School Class of 1959 have planned a gala weekend to celebrate their 50-year reunion from Sept.11 to 13. Begins Friday night with a meeting at E.B. Elliot’s on the Nautical Mile to renew old acquaintances. Saturday will find the group at Jones Beach Field 6 or at Museum Row riding Nunley’s Carousel once more, in the bleachers at the Freeport vs. Oceanside football game or just riding around the village visiting old haunts. At 7 p.m. converge at the Freeport Yacht Club for dinner and enjoyment of music of the ‘50s. Before starting home on Sunday, groups will meet at local diners for farewells over brunch.
