Senior Seasonal Flu Vaccination Program

Held by Nassau University Medical Center, 2201 Hempstead Tpke., East Meadow, between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the NUMC auditorium.
 The NuHealth System seasonal influenza vaccination program is provided at no out-of-pocket expense for seniors 60 and older, who are urged to bring their Medicare card if they have one.
 Note that this program is for seasonal influenza only. H1N1 influenza (formerly known as Swine Flu) vaccine will not be offered at this program. Additional details on H1N1 will be provided in the coming weeks. Call 393-7453 for more information on the NuHealth System seasonal flu vaccination program. Vaccinations will also be given on Dec. 15.

 Free Flu Shots 

New York State Assemblyman Tom McKevitt, in cooperation with Nassau University Medical Center, is sponsoring this year’s flu shot program at the East Meadow Library for residents age 60 and older. Penny Auction

Hosted by the Old Country Road fifth grade Parent Teacher Association at the Old Country Road School. Dinner Dance

As part of the year-long celebration marking its 150th Anniversary, St. Ignatius Loyola Parish will be holding a Dinner Dance from 7 to 11 p.m. in Msgr. Tarrant Hall, E. Nicholai St. Cost is $45 per person. Mail responses and checks (made payable to St. Ignatius Loyola Parish) to St. Ignatius Loyola Rectory, 129 Broadway, Hicksville, NY 11801, Attn: Dinner Dance. High Rollers Casino Night

At Knights of Columbus Joseph Barry Council #2520, 45 Heitz Pl., from 6 to 11 p.m. the proceeds raised from this event will be used to support scholarship funds. Become a sponsor, prize contributor for the auction. All prizes will be displayed with donor acknowledgements. Arrangements can be made for picks-ups as needed. Kick-A-Thon

Throughout November, Martial Arts America, 300 S. Broadway, Hicksville will take part in a national project called the “Thanksgiving Basket Brigade.” The mission is to make and deliver 100 Thanksgiving dinner baskets to local families who would otherwise do without. Each basket will contain a turkey, rolls, gravy, corn, beans, cranberry sauce, potatoes, pies, juice and much more. Students of Martial Arts America will hold a Kick-A Thon today. Free Legal Consultation for Seniors

The Nassau County Bar Association provides free monthly legal consultation clinics for Nassau County residents 65 or older. Seniors have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with an attorney who volunteers to provide a half-hour private consultation on any topic of concern. The next clinic will be held from 9:30 to10:30 a.m. at NCBA, 15th and West Sts., Mineola. This popular free program regularly fills up quickly. Family Barn Dance

Bring the whole family, especially the kids and grandparents, to a fun-filled evening of live music and dancing. A caller will instruct country-style dances, while musicians from the LI Traditional Music Association (www.litma.org) provide lively folk music. At Hicks Nurseries

Located at 100 Jericho Tpke., Westbury. The nursery is handicapped accessible throughout. The following is offered:
• Long Island’s talented chefs are coming to Hicks Nurseries to demonstrate special holiday dishes. The chefs will provide tastes of what they prepare and recipes. All sessions are one hour long and begin promptly at 11 a.m. in the Henry Hicks Learning Center. The demonstrations are free and reservations are not necessary but space is limited.
