The Oyster Bay East Norwich unit of the Nassau County Police Activity League (OBEN PAL) will be hosting their annual Kick-A-Thon Saturday Feb. 27, from 4 to 5 p.m. The Atlantic Steamer firehouse on East Main Street has again graciously offered their firehouse to OB-EN PAL to host the event. This year they will attempt to break the record set by the participant’s last year, 111,021 kicks

The OB-EN PAL Karate is dedicated to providing socially and economically at risk children the opportunity to participate in programs that are uniquely suited for their personal development stressing values such as: courtesy, integrity, respect, discipline and courage.

Martial Arts is renowned for introducing and reinforcing these values while enhancing non-violent conflict resolution, goal setting abilities and strength of character creating productive healthy people. The purpose of events such as this is to provide exposure and bring new attention to the arts, increase the programs visibility and attract new participants.

The money raised will be used to set up scholarships for these children. This will allow them to be a part of a professional martial arts program as well as to be able to continue the great work of the OB-EN PAL karate.
