Hollywood Star Party
The Boys & Girls Club of Oyster Bay-E. Norwich would like to invite members in grades 4, 5, and 6 to its very first Hollywood Star Party. The party is made possible by the sponsorship of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Bahnik. The event will take place from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at the clubhouse, One Pine Hollow Rd. The club’s gymnasium will be transformed into a star-studded dance club for members along with a red carpet entrance. Dress like your favorite celebrity and win a prize for the best look alike. There will be a live DJ from 2-Extreme Entertainment as well as refreshments, games and prizes. The fee is $11 through Feb. 26; $15 thereafter. Register at the clubhouse. The Soldier’s Tale
Ridotto, Concerts “with a Touch of Theatre,” presents The Soldier’s Tale. Written in 1918 by Igor Stravinsky, the piece was intended for a small traveling theater. L’Histoire tells the timely tale of love, greed, gambling, and ill-gotten riches. When the soldier sells his violin, he squanders his soul. Conductor Christopher Lyndon-Gee, leads the Stravinsky Ensemble. Narrator is David Majoros, with actors Sal Tuzzolo and Victoria Edgar in the roles of the Soldier and the Devil, dancer Candice Nemec as the Princess (choreography Jessie Niemiec). Polar Bear Plunge
The Sixth Annual Polar Bear Plunge, to benefit the United Cerebral Palsy Association of NC. Festivities begin at 1 p.m.; the plunge at 2 p.m. at Theodore Roosevelt Park. There will be a DJ and free hot dogs, soup and coffee. Download registration form at www.ucpn.org. Call 378-2000, ext. 353.

Taste of Spring
The board and staff of the Theodore Roosevelt Sanctuary and Audubon Center invite you get away from winter for at least one night at the fourth annual winter cocktail party in the Main Greenhouse at Planting Fields Arboretum State Historic Park. Director Vinnie Simeone and the staff at the arboretum are hosting the event. Enjoy delectable hors d’oeuvres prepared by Pat Spafford of Periwinkles, while taking in the melodic sounds of tree frogs and the wonderful aromas of tropical flowers, as you mingle with fellow sanctuary supporters and forget the doldrums of winter. Get an up close view of the sanctuary’s birds while educators answer questions. Your ticket purchase supports the programs and services offered by the sanctuary. Tickets are $75 per person. LI Baroque Ensemble
Presents its annual tribute to the great master Johann Sebastian Bach. The program will include notable concertos, trio sonatas, the Suite in B minor and the Cantata #4. Musicians are: Daniel Waitzman, flute; Anca Nicolau and Karl Kawahara, violins; Louise Schulman, viola; Myron Lutzke, violoncello; and Sonia Gezairlian Grib, harpsichord. Joining the ensemble will be the Chamber Singers of Hofstra University conducted by David Freiling and a community chorale from Messiah (Setauket), St. James and St. John’s (Sayville) Lutheran churches. 3 p.m. at Christ Church. Lincoln Day Dinner
The North Syosset-Woodbury Republican Club will be having its 54th Annual Lincoln Day Dinner at The Woodlands, TOB Golf Course, Woodbury. Cocktails will be served at 6 p.m. and dinner will follow. The cost is $90 per person. This year the club will honor The Honorable Edward P. Mangano, Nassau County Executive, as its Lincoln Day Award recipient. The Humanitarian Award will be presented to Larry Sklar, a long standing civic leader in the Syosset community and a strong advocate for veterans. He is a member of the Syosset Rotary.
