Soldier’s Walk at Town of Oyster Bay Marina a Great Success

The Soldiers Walk on Armed Forces Day, May 15 at TR Memorial Park Marina was a great way to pay special tribute to the men and women of the Armed Forces and their families who also sacrifice along side of them, said Kathy Genovese, America’s VetDogs director of development. “Almost 200 people took part and we raised over $1,600,” she said.

New York Senator Carl Marcellino attended the Soldier’s Walk. He said, “The Soldier’s Walk to support VetsDogs was great. It was very nicely done. A lot of people came out – and it was the first time they have done it. It was a good lead in for the rest of the Oyster Bay Chamber of Commerce Health and Fitness fair.” The fair is a combined effort among the senator, his staff doing publicity and signage and OBCC President Michele Browner, chair of the event.

America’s VetDogs mission is to train and provide guide dogs for veterans who are blind or visually impaired, service dogs for veterans and active duty personnel with disabilities other than blindness, therapy dogs for in-theater deployment and to serve at select military and VA hospitals.
