August Summer Concerts

Every summer, the Town of Hempstead’s Summer Concert Series, hosted by the Department of Parks and Recreation, brings talented musicians to perform at the town’s neighborhood parks. Our lineup this year features an exciting range of musical genres, from the smooth sounds of Sinatra and classic rock to the Doo-Wop hits of the 1960s and the hip-swinging hits of Elvis.

Listed below are the free outdoor concerts taking place this August. All shows begin at 8 p.m. unless otherwise noted, and it is recommended that those planning to attend the concerts bring their own lawn chairs and beach blankets.

Tuesday, Aug. 3 – Vintage Bliss relives the hits of Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett and Bobby Darin at Rock Hall Museum, Lawrence.

Wednesday, Aug. 4 – A mix of swing and the sounds of Sinatra with Lou Moneta and Gayle Scott at Rath Park, Franklin Square.

Thursday, Aug. 5 – Randy and the Rainbows sing the hits of the ’60s at Averill Boulevard Park, Elmont.

Friday, Aug. 6 – Dr. Diamond with Brooklyn Roads Band in a Neil Diamond Tribute at Speno Park, East Meadow. Hofstra’s Astronomy Outreach Program will give concertgoers a glimpse of the heavens.

Monday, Aug. 9 – Doo-Wop Concert Under the Stars at 7 p.m. at Merrick Road Park, Merrick.

Tuesday, Aug. 10 – You ain’t nothing but a “Hound Dog” with your “Blue Suede Shoes” on Elvis Night with Vintage Elvis at Hewlett Point Park, Bay Park.

Wednesday, Aug. 11 – Enjoy the country sound of Darlene Prince & the Bragg Hollow Band at Acorn Lane Park, Levittown.

Thursday, Aug. 12 – Barometer Soup cooks up a Cheeseburger in Paradise with a visit to Margaritaville in a Jimmy Buffet tribute and more at Seamans Neck Park, Seaford.

Friday, Aug. 13 – The Liverpool Shuffle is a trip down Penny Lane and a musical reflection on Yesterday with a Beatles tribute at Echo Park, West Hempstead.

Tuesday, Aug. 17 – B-Street Band is Born to Run with a Bruce Springsteen tribute at East Village Green, Levittown.

Wednesday, Aug. 18 – Bell Bottom Blues sings Layla & After Mignight in the ultimate Clapton tribute at Shell Creek Park, Barnum Island.

Thursday, Aug. 19 – Desert Highway travels straight from Hotel California with an Eagles tribute at Merrick Road Park in Merrick.

Friday, Aug. 20 – Lights, camera, action, with a giant screen, open-air presentation of “How to Train Your Dragon” at Newbridge Road Park, Bellmore at 8 p.m.
