In his letter to the editor in the 8/6 edition Kevin D. Hassett strongly implies that there is something wrong about the Hagedorn Foundation’s support for “special interests” and to Long Island Wins. Is it wrong for a foundation to give support to a liberal organization while at the same time it is all right for conservative foundations contribute to conservative think tanks and publicity outlets? The ability of groups to support political discussion is a well-established law and is not wrong for liberal groups but right for conservative groups to support special interests.
Also, I would be interested in knowing the source of Mr. Hassett’s information that, “Incredibly some already receive Social Security payouts and Medicare without having contributed a single penny into these funds.” If a person has not contributed a single penny to these funds how is there an active account?
