Nature Walk
Muttontown Preserve will host a two-hour guided walk at 10 a.m. The “Autumn Color” hike proceeds along nature trails, where participants can view wild flowers and the birds that continue to congregate in the woodlands and meadows. Enrollment for the hike ($5) is limited and preregistration is required by calling 571-8500 weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The hike will begin at the Bill Paterson Nature Center on the preserve, Muttontown Ln., south of 25A, East Norwich.

NY Chapter meeting at 2 p.m. at Planting Fields Arboretum. Weekend admission fees ($8) to arboretum for nonmembers. The public is welcome. Refreshements after discussion. Colors in the Forest
Join Dan Kriesberg, inspiring naturalist and science teacher, and explore Bailey Arboretum’s (Lattingtown) trails, from 2 to 3 p.m., as part of the annual Pumpkin Festival (11 a.m. to 4 p.m.). Misha and Cipa Dichter, piano duo, presented by Ridotto concerts “with a Touch of Theatre.” The two-piano program features Mozart’s Fantasie for Musical Clockwork, Shostakovich Concertino and music by Liszt, Copland-Bernstein and Rachmaninoff’s Suite no. 2. 4 p.m. in Old First Church, on Route 25A, Huntington. Do You Love to Knit or Crochet?
New Knitting Group is forming and its first meeting will be at 1 p.m. in the Oyster Bay Library. Patterns will be supplied or bring your own. Penny Auction
The United Methodist Church is re-creating one of its iconic fundraisers, its Penny Auction which will be repeated as part of the anniversary celebration. It is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the new location, The Village Church, 9 Mountain Ave., Bayville. Because the event is primarily for fun and fellowship, the church is maintaining the traditional prices. Admission is $8 as it was in the past and includes free refreshments and 10 auction tickets. Additional tickets will be on sale 10 for $1.
