Walk in the Woods

Fall is the perfect time to plant bulbs to enjoy early spring color in your community. 10 a.m. at The Farm at Oyster Bay (aka Littauer), Oyster Bay Cove.

LI Flute Festival

Sponsored by the LI Flute Club at Oyster Bay High School from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The day offers many different opportunities to play and meet other flutists from the area. The festival is for flutists of all ages from students who have only played a year to professional teachers and amateur flute lovers. Guest artists will be the flute and piccolo players of the West Point Band of the U.S. Military Academy. Staff Sergeant Diana Powers and Staff Sergeant Torin Olsen will be giving a lecture and concert at 2 p.m. All festival participants will attend a master class on NYSSMA solos and play in an ensemble on their level. Also featuring Hofstra Flute Choir, a body mapping workshop, flute player Sergeant Pamela Sheryll-Pfeil, a performance by all participants and the grand finale of Bach’s Meditation. Guided Autumn Hike

The hike will cover woodland trails, meadows, upland woods and wetlands. 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Muttontown Preserve. Enrollment for the hike ($5) is limited and preregistration is required by calling 571-8500 weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The hike will begin at the Bill Paterson Nature Center on the preserve, Muttontown Ln., south of 25A, East Norwich.

Taste of the Manor

Networking event from 6 to 8 p.m. at Stuart Thomas Manor, 2143 Boundary Ave., Farmingdale. Come see the corporate meeting rooms, sample the corporate menu, breakfast and lunch. LINSHA Annual Meeting

The LI North Shore Heritage Area is holding its annual meeting at Chelsea Mansion on the Muttontown Preserve, 34 Muttontown Ln., East Norwich, at 7 p.m. Jennifer Sappell, LINSHA executive director said, “Here is an opportunity for you to embrace a comprehensive, regional vision for the future of LI’s North Shore – preserving, protecting and enhancing our cultural, historical and natural resources. As local governments and residents come together, the quality of life of the entire region benefits. Victorian Fair

The fair brings together a special selection of holiday gifts, crafts, specialty vendor boutiques, delicious homemade baked goods and Granny’s Attic rummage sale. This year’s selection includes chic fashion jewelry, fine photography, holiday decorations, fantasy children’s gifts and books and holiday plants. The Silent Auction will be full of one of a kind items and opportunities for those searching for something truly special. Nov. 19 from 5 to 8 p.m. and Nov. 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 60 E. Main St. On Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 11 to 3 p.m., Santa will be available for a picture with you and your family. Bring your own camera or use ours. Santa will also have time to personally chat with your children about their holiday wishes. On Saturday, a home-cooked delicious and festive luncheon will be served from noon to 2:30 p.m. in the Victorian Café.

The Holidays in Oyster Bay Committee
