Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
Musical. Based on the popular 1988 film, Scoundrels centers on two con men living on the French Riviera who believe the town isn’t big enough for both of them. Help Japan with Love
Charity Concert hosted by the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation, LI Branch with special Guest Xiao-Feng Wu, an extraordinary talented pianist, to perform the music of Chopin. As a NY-based pianist, Xiaofeng has been claimed as “simply prodigious, to be on the roster of the first-class performers of his immense country – China” by ABC.es, a European music review magazine. As one of only five pianists and the only Chinese selected by Apple, Inc. to be part of its Chopin Project, Xiao-feng has recorded Chopin solo works for exclusive distribution via iTunes. His solo concerts have been highly acclaimed by music critics in numerous publications and media outlets around the world. Xiaofeng has chosen to play some of Chopin’s works in this performance because they echo the strong feelings of those who have suffered in the great earthquake in Japan in March and those who have responded with love and compassion. All lovers of Chopin music are welcome to come and listen in person to a top pianist playing Chopin’s works and understand the true spirit of Tzu Chi – “Compassion and Relief.” The concert will be held from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Tzu Chi LI Branch, 60 East Williston Ave., East Williston. Winthrop University Hospital’s 10th Annual Swim-A-Thon will be held on April 10 from 7 to 11:30 a.m. at Hofstra University Swim Center, 900 Fulton Ave., Hempstead (463-5081). Craft Fair/Flea Market
St. Elisabeth’s Episcopal Church, 6 Harvard St., Floral Park (off Tulip Ave.), will hold its semi-annual Craft Fair/Flea Market from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Forty eight vendors from all over Long Island will present their wares – hand-made items, crafts, white elephants, books, jewelry, household items, new items, etc. Vendors from Mary Kay, Avon and Pampered Chef will also be present. Refreshments will be served.

The program reaches out to women with cancer and teaches them how to best apply makeup and wear their hair while undergoing cancer treatment. •Free/Low Cost Health Insurance. The residents of communities served by Mercy Medical Center will have the opportunity to apply for free or low cost health insurance for children, families and adults up to age 64 on the first Thursday of every month from 5 to 7 p.m. in Mercy’s Main Lobby. Staff from Catholic Charities of LI will assist you and our children applying for Child Health Plus, Family Health Plus and Medicaid Health Insurance Programs. The bi-lingual enrollers will screen adults for income eligibility for the state’s health insurance program Family Health Plus. Children are eligible for Child Health Plus. These programs cover medical check-ups, hospitalization, emergency care, prescriptions, vision and dental care.
•Zonta Club of LI, a member of Zonta International, a worldwide service organization with a local club. Members help advance the status of women and are involved in many community service activities. The name Zonta is word taken from the Sioux and stands for honesty, trust, inspiration and the ability to work together for service and understanding. There may be a way to alleviate some of the cost of Medicare – deductibles and coinsurance, Part B premiums, prescription drug plans (Part D).
