Turkey Trot/Chicken Run Invitation

Annual Matthew Fetzer Foundation benefit run on November 10

The Oyster Festival reaches into the community and helps many people as they work to help others. The family of Ann and Bill Fetzer of Bayville continue to honor their son Matthew, who lost his battle with cancer on April 7, 2005, at age 10. Their nonprofit group worked to fund the Matthew Fetzer Foundation at the Oyster Festival. The MFF supports children with cancer and has an annual toy drive for children in the hospital.

“Matthew’s Lobster Booth was voted third best food at this year’s Oyster Festival’s Best of the Food Court Contest,” said Ann Fetzer.

She said, “Thank you to everyone that worked at Matthew’s Lobster Booth, we had such a great time. Thank you to everyone that came and supported us, also. It was great to see so many people coming back year after year. We have had the same man on both Saturday and Sunday be our first customer for several years now.

“Matthew’s Lobster Booth is such a great way to raise money in honor of Matthew, and we truly thank everyone involved with making it a success from the bottom of our hearts.”

She added, “We are always getting asked ‘What do you need ?’ We always say we’ll let you know. Well here it is.

“We need everyone and your friends to sign up to run in Matthew’s Turkey Trot/Chicken Run on Nov. 10.

“We need sponsors for the race. Your name or your business’ name will be put on the back of the T-shirts we are giving to the runners. Contact us and we will send you the sponsor form.

“We need gift cards, some to raffle off and some to give to the families in the hospitals. You can get them anywhere, even at the grocery check out counter.

“We need new toys to bring to the hospital.”

She added, “All the money raised goes to Children with Cancer. Thank you for your support.”
