Jack Halyards and Dry Creek Vineyards are hosting a Wine Dinner to benefit Oakcliff Sailing Center on May 2 starting at 6:30 p.m. The full menu includes Pine Island Oysters, Jalapeno Tuna Tartar, Grilled Striped Bass and poached Black Pepper Crusted Filet Mignon accompanied by Dry Creek Vineyards wines. The LI Junior Rowing Championships take place on May 5 at Centre Island Beach. This eight-hour Sagamore Rowing Association event includes: Sagamore (composite club representing Oyster Bay, Locust Valley, Syosset, Northport, Harborfields), Friends Academy, Manhasset, Huntington, St. Anthony’s, Cold Spring Harbor, Port Washington, Iona Prep, Saugatuck, East End, Westfield, East End, Fordham Prep).

OB-EN Budget Workshop
The Oyster Bay-East Norwich board of education will hold a public hearing on the 2013-2014 Budget on May 7 at 8 p.m. in the Oyster Bay High School library. Residents are welcome to attend and comment. The budget vote and trustee election is scheduled for Tuesday, May 21 at the high school from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Shell Collage for Kids
Inspired by the shell crafts native to the people of the Caribbean, and brought back by sailors to Long Island, the Oyster Bay Historical Society invites young artists to create a masterpiece from the bounty of the sea as a family keepsake or a gift for mom on May 8 from 3:45 to 5 p.m. Weather permitting this event will be held on the lawn behind the Earle-Wightman house and Colonial garden. The Oyster Bay High School PTSA holds A Taste of the Town on May 9 from 7-11 p.m. (rain date — May 16). The event will offer food, wine, beer tastings, raffles and many other treats. FOSH Lecture
The Friends of Sagamore Hill host the third in the Dr. John A. Gable Lecture Series, held in Christ Church Parish Hall, 61 East Main Street on Thursday, May 16. Photographer Xiomáro, draws on his experience photographing the interior of the Roosevelt home at Sagamore Hill. Lectures begin at 7 p.m. Admission and refreshments are free to all. Joint Forum on Shore Road
The East Norwich and Oyster Bay Civic Associations meet May 16 for an open forum on Shore Road. Rosemarie Colvin has arranged for Michael Martino, press secretary of the NC DPW and Donna Boyle, NC public works project engineer, including for Shore Road: to discuss the endeavor and answer questions about safety. “There is nowhere to pull off the road in an emergency,” said Colvin. It will be held at the Italian American Citizens Club at 48 Summit Street at 7:30 p.m. There are some bright spots, the county is burying the telephone lines, working on better drainage and there may be a walkway emerging as the work is completed. Learn Model Railroading
Planting Fields presents a Trackside Workshop: Making a Model Train Layout with the trainmaster of Babylon Model Railroading Club on May 18 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Manor House. This Spring, Voci da Camera celebrates 13 years since its founding by director Kathleen Blixt at 8 p.m. The ensemble of 20 professional and highly skilled singers specialize in unaccompanied music, the purest form of choral expression.
