The John Michael Marino Foundation Inc. Order Sons of Italy in America on Thursday Oct. 24, will hold a 16th anniversary celebration dinner dance honoring Port Washington’s Ronnie Henderson and Sal Zimbardi.
Henderson is executive director of Port Washington Youth Activities (PYA) and Zimbardi is president of Zimbardi Financial Group.
The two men were chosen because of the time and energy they have given the Port Washington community.
A self-declared baseball and sports fanatic, Henderson has watched the PYA program grow over the past several years and is “enthralled” by the advances that have been made by the children.
“We are committed to bringing growth and sportsmanship to all of these children and to the organization as a whole,” Henderson said. “It is the selflessness of the volunteers that keeps PYA afloat; we wouldn’t be able to do what we do without them.”
Zimbardi has been a member of the John Michael Marino Lodge #1389 Order of the Sons of Italy in America for over 36 years.
He is active in the community, having served as captain of the Port Washington Fire Department and a member of its board of directors. A retired police commissioner of the Port Washington Police District, Zimbardi is also a member of the Lions Club, treasurer and member of the board of directors of Port Counseling Center and Port Washington Senior Citizens.
The dinner dance will take place at Leonard’s of Great Neck, with further information available by calling 718-631-7917.
