A new trendy gift store just moved onto the boulevard – 475 Port Washington Boulevard to be exact. The company called Uptown Artworks has been around for about five years and has had a large online presence.
Before moving over to Port, the business was managed out of Great Neck. The store opens at the perfect time — when the change of seasons and the holidays are drawing near. Owner Lori Blum recommends coming for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Hanukkah, or just for a house warming or wedding gift. Her staff is happy to work with customers to help personalize their designs for one-of-a-kind gifts.
Port Washington residents feel that the town could really use a place like this adding that “go-to” element when in need of a unique party or holiday gift for a friend or family member.
One local resident learned of the business after seeing it on Facebook repeatedly. The woman recalls being linked to the online address, became an immediate fan, and purchasing a great personalized pillow for a housewarming gift.
“Our art is inspired by the vintage subway signs seen in Manhattan,” said owner Lori Blum. “I started the business using various stock designs and then people wanted us to customize their selections.”
When you walk into the store, there’s a display of pillows stocked up on the shelves. They sell trays, pillows, and art on canvas.
“Birth announcements are definitely our most popular gifts,” said Blum. The company began in only black and white, but now it offers an array of vibrant fabrics and colors to choose from. The staff designs the pillow and trays on the premises. The art on canvas is done off site.
“Buyers can choose from an unlimited palette of colors that match their interior design,” said Blum.
Environmentally conscious customers can rest assured that pillows and ottoman fabrics are eco-friendly, printed with water-based inks on natural linen and cotton, with no added chemicals and little production waste. Uptown Artworks products are also proudly handcrafted in the USA.
Right now the store is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. For any questions, please call 516.883.4245.
