With dozens of stores planning extra special discounts, promotions, entertainment, free gifts and refreshments, plus much more sponsored entertainment than ever before and a sweepstakes giveaway by stores, this year’s annual Port Holiday Magic could be the best ever, sponsors say.
The event takes place Wednesday, Dec. 4, from 5 to 8 p.m.
Port Holiday Magic will feature more entertainment than in past years, with sponsors including the Town of North Hempstead and the Business Improvement District (BID). Strolling performers, a stage featuring singing and dancing performances at the LIRR station, circus performers and even singing life-sized toy soldiers and several Santa sightings will add to the festivities.
Look for the Schreiber High School Choir, Bach to Rock glee groups, Louise Benes Dance Studio, St. Peter’s Church Choir and Port Jewish Center to be represented, among others.
Port Holiday Magic is offering a new activity this year. All participating stores will have entry forms for a grand giveaway, so stop into any of them to pick up a form. Visit eight or more stores and ask them to put a sticker with their store’s name on your entry form.
Participants can continue to shop and collect stickers through Sunday, Dec. 15 and submit their form to any of the participating stores by that day to be eligible for a chance to win one of dozens of prizes donated by many Port Washington stores.
For a chance to win a $200 Bonus Prize, give your entry form (with eight or more stickers affixed) to a participating store by 8 p.m. on Dec. 4 during Port Holiday Magic.
Whether participants hand in their form on Dec. 4 or the Dec. 15, they will be eligible to win one of many store prizes or the Grand Prize—a $300 shopping and dining spree. The Bonus and Grand prizes, which are being provided by the BID, will be gift certificates to any of the participating businesses the winners choose.
During the evening, relax on an old-fashioned trolley for free, courtesy of the Town of North Hempstead. The trolley will make the following stops between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.:
