Painting With Flowers Blooms

paintingwithflowersFor Painting With Flowers, a small, quiet shop on Main Street, the holiday season happens to be the busiest time of year.

About 50% of sales come in December, store owner Gayle Silver said.

“It’s a cozy time of the year where it’s a little chilly outside, but frequently customers will come in to relax and maybe see something they like for their home,” Silver said. “Some of the accessories are very, very popular gift items, so during Christmastime, we get a lot of things sold.”

The shop is on the center of the intersection of Main Street and Shore Road and offers a wide array of items to jazz up a home. The pleasant scent of the candles and the low, but soothing sounds of jazz music, certainly create a tranquil atmosphere.

There are variety of home goods found throughout the store including clocks, wind chimes, artwork, chandeliers, lamps, handbags and pottery, among others. Armchairs, dining tables, coffee tables and cribs are some of the furniture found in the boutique. Some of their bestselling items include custom jewelry and especially candles.

“People love them so much, I must say that candles are a really big seller for us, for sure,” Silver said. “Of all the candles we sell, our natural scented candles are the most popular ones.” They contain actual fruits, herbs and spices. Also, these candles are six inches high and five inches in diameter and can last for 200 hours.

Their selection of jewelry happens to be a special feature of the store as well. “We do sell a unique collection of custom jewelry,” Silver said. “We have customers come in and say that they’ve never seen such a wonderful selection before. Some even said that they’ve never seen the jewelry we carry anywhere else.”

About 70 percent of customers visiting the boutique are from Port Washington and the remaining consumers come from the Long Island and New York metro area. “We look forward to seeing our customers; they all come and support us throughout the year and were lucky about that,” Silver said.

But it’s the store’s universal appeal that draws customers in, whether they be regulars or those that are just discovering Painting With Flowers. “We’re most grateful about meeting all of our customers, new and old,” Silver said.
