Nassau County police are looking for a group of men who struck a vehicle and then robbed the driver when he got out to inspect the damage in Flower Hill on Dec. 15.
The 51-year-old man was driving a 2013 Land Rover at Stonytown Road and Chanticlare Drive at 9:45 p.m. when police say he was struck by an unknown older model dark-colored SUV occupied by four Hispanic men.
When the victim pulled over to inspect the damage to his vehicle, two men displayed handguns, removed the victim’s wallet, his jacket containing the key fob for the vehicle and cash, then pushed the man to the ground.
A Third Precinct police officer observed the vehicle at Northern Boulevard and Community Drive in Manhasset where the four men intentionally struck the marked police unit to get way. The officer was not injured and the vehicle fled westbound onto the Long Island Expressway.
The stolen vehicle was located unoccupied at Queens Boulevard and 62nd Street in Woodside where an extensive search was conducted by both Nassau County Police and the New York Police Department. The vehicle was impounded and the victim treated for a minor back injury. There is no further description of the subjects or the vehicle they were operating.
Detectives request anyone with information regarding this crime to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
