Terrence F. Meehan, 59, died peacefully but unexpectedly in his sleep this week.
Terry grew up in Manhasset and lived in Winthrop, MA in recent years. He was an outstanding chef and worked in many establishments in Manhasset, Sag Harbor, Palm Beach and most recently at Winthrop Yacht Club.
He loved movies, especially old movies, and had encyclopedic knowledge of the details of actors, directors and producers. There was no dog he ever encountered that he did not love or that did not love him. He was a great storyteller and had a great sense of timing and humor.
He lived a courageous life overcoming many challenges, but never losing hope. Terry was always attentive to the needs of others, ready to offer a helping hand on a moment’s notice. His last year was one of his best, reconnecting with friends and family. His Christmas and Thanksgiving dinners were always spectacular and this year’s were his very best.
He will be missed greatly by his loving family—John and Daizy Meehan of St. Louis, MO and sons John and Jason; Justine and Dan Carr of Chestnut Hill, MA and children Nora, Becky, and Andrew; and Monica and Kevin McNamara of Boston, MA and daughters Kate and Maya.
Friends and family attended a memorial gathering on Saturday, Jan. 11, which was held at the Boston Harborside Home, 580 Commercial St, Boston. Please visit www.BostonHarborsideHome.com to read his complete obituary, view his photo tribute, or leave a condolence.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the West End Clinic of MGH, 16 Blossom St, Boston, MA 02114.
