The LI Blues, a hockey program that gives children and young adults with special needs the opportunity to play ice hockey in an accommodating setting, will host the Fourth Annual Winter Classic at the Town of Oyster Bay Ice Skating Center located at 1001 Stewart Avenue in Bethpage on Saturday, Feb. 8.
“This event showcases the dedication of these young athletes who are quite skilled at hockey,” said Supervisor John Venditto. “They really are inspiring.”
Three other teams–the East Coast Jumbos, the New Jersey Dare Devils and the New Jersey Avalanche–will be participating in four games played with the first face off scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
“The sport of ice hockey gives participants a sense of teamwork and instills important character traits such as dedication and resiliency,” said Michael Russo of LI Blues Special Hockey. “We are very proud of our program which brings ice hockey to these players at adaptive levels that makes it fun for all.”
