On Saturday, Feb. 1, the Manhasset boys swim team competed in Nassau County’s Division A Championships. On Wednesday, Jan. 29, Manhasset’s diver Chris Carrozzo competed at the Division A Diving Championships. His personal best score of 378.30 earned him a second place finish and a spot at next week’s County Championship.
This year’s divisional opponents include Garden City, Wantagh, Sewanhaka, Cold Spring Harbor, Freeport, Herricks and Levittown.
Saturday’s divisional swim meet was a highlight reel of season and personal best swims for the Manhasset team. Their strong showing paved the way for a second place finish in Division B. This is the team’s third consecutive runner-up finish, which is a team record. Earning All-Division honors are Conor Beil, Chris Carrozzo, Sean Earley, Jeff McNeary and Mike Perulli.
Highlights from the meet include the following results:
Senior Connor Lee swam a 2:01.52 in the 200yd Freestyle and a 5:33.77 in the 500yd Freestyle. Robert Godfried swam a 2:02.41 in the 200yd Free and a 2:24.05 in the 200yd IM. Maxwell Hu swam a 56.82 in the 100yd Free. Chris Harragan swam a 1:13.08 in the 100yd Breaststroke.
Kevin Beil swam a 1:15.73 in the 100yd Breaststroke. Stephen Tranchina swam a 1:16.98 in the 100yd Breaststroke.
Junior Jeff McNeary swam a 57.40 in the 100yd Butterfly. Sean Earley swam a 59.86 in the 100yd Backstroke. Jack Wesson swam a 1:04.36 in the 100yd Butterfly and a 56.04 in the 100yd Freestyle. Tyler Lew swam a 25.30 in the 50yd Freestyle.
Sophomore Conor Beil swam a 1:50.71 in the 200yd Freestyle and a 4:50.79 in the 500yd Freestyle, both times are new school records. Mike Perulli swam a 2:17.29 in the 200yd IM, 54.22 in the 100yd Freestyle and a 1:01.99 in the 100yd Backstroke. Matt Alonso swam a 2:04.45 in the 200yd Freestyle and a 1:05.60 in the 100yd Backstroke. Ryan Earley swam a 2:34.86 in the 200yd IM and a 5:53.10 in the 500yd Freestyle. Nick Magliulo swam a 1:09.17 in the 100yd Backstroke.
Anthony Raimondi swam a 1:09.88 in the 100yd Butterfly. Ryan Lee swam a 6:20.90 in the 500yd Free. Eddie Lennon swam a 1:13.16 in the 100yd Butterfly. Biagio Raimondi swam a 1:17.05 in the 100yd Breaststroke. Harrison Barsky swam a 26.19 in the 50yd Freestyle.
In the day’s last event, the 400yd Freestyle Relay team of Mike Perulli, Conor Beil, Jeff McNeary and Sean Earley finished 2nd in a season best time of 3:31.63 to secure the second place team finish for the Indians.
