Port Washington is home to a new film series featuring studio and independent movies, a move to raise the profile of the area’s love of the arts.
Films will be shown once a month for the next five months at Soundview Cinemas. The series kicked off Feb. 4, with Girl on a Bicycle, an Italian romantic comedy from the screenwriter of The Notebook.
The next film, on March 11, is Fading Gigolo and stars Woody Allen, John Turturro, Sharon Stone, and Sofia Vergara. Fioravante (Turturro) decides to become a professional Don Juan as a way of making money to help his cash-strapped friend (Allen). With Murray (Allen) acting as his “manager,” the duo quickly find themselves caught up in the crosscurrents of love and money.
Other films in the series will be announced soon, say sponsors Gold Coast Arts Center and Douglas Elliman Real Estate.
“This new series that Douglas Elliman is launching under the Gold Coast flag will bring great cinema experiences to new audiences in Port Washington,” said Regina Gil, executive director of the Gold Coast Arts Center. “We invite everyone to come and be a part of it.”
Individual tickets cost $15 in advance ($10 students), or $20 at the door. Call 516-829-2570 or visit our website: goldcoastfilmfestival.org for tickets and further information.
