Over the past year, the Friends of the Floral Park Public Library have had some major accomplishments, including their annual book sale, new furnishings, program sponsorship and sustaining the museum pass offerings.
“Being a member of the Friends is a satisfying way to play a vital role in supporting our Library, which is an often overlooked resource of the community,” said The Friends of the Floral Park Public Library President Terry Meegan.
Through the dedication and hard work by its volunteers, the Friends of the Library have raised more than $5,600 to support library programs and make purchases for the library. The 2014 Book Sale will take place on June 7, 8, and 9, at Centennial Hall.
The Friends also recently purchased a display kiosk for the adult reading room, as well as two reproductions of historic seed catalog covers by John Lewis Childs. In addition, they also donated nine smaller John Lewis Child prints.
“The funds we raise through our annual book sale help support library programs and services,” said Meegan. “We are paid back for our efforts with the smiles of hundreds of satisfied customers, and the sincere appreciation of the hardworking library staff and board.”
