SEF SEPTA will hold their next meeting on March 5 at Sewanhaka High School, 2nd floor in the library at 7:30 p.m. Topic will be: Common Core Curriculum and Special Education. Email sefsepta@gmail.com for details.

The Floral Park Lions Club chapter meets on the first Wednesdays of each month at 12:30 p.m. The next meeting will be on Wednesday, March 5 at Crabtree’s Restaurant, 226 Jericho Tpke. in Floral Park.


Thursday, March 6

The West End Civic Association will participate in a joint civic association meeting to be held on Thursday, March 6 at 8 p.m. at the Floral Park Recreation Center, second floor meeting room. Candidates for trustee, James Rhatigan and Kevin Fitzgerald will be present to answer any questions and present their positions going into the Village election. President Perry Criscitelli urges all members to attend.

Join the Floral Park Memorial High School Athletic Booster Club for an Evening With Aunt Barbara, the nation’s leading seller of Tupperware. The event will take place on Thursday, March 6, at 7:30 p.m. at the American Legion Hall located at 15 Elizabeth St., in Floral Park. Admission is $10 per person which includes the show and light snacks. Bring your own beverages. Checks should be made payable to the FPMHS Athletic Booster Club and sent to Kelly Pipa, 57 Clover Ave., Floral Park, NY 11001 Attn: Booster Club Fundraiser.


Friday, March 7

In order to be eligible to vote in the village election on March 18 you must be a registered voter with the Nassau County Board of Elections. If you are not, registration forms are available at www.fpvillage.org  or at Village Hall, One Floral Boulevard. Registration forms must be received by the Nassau County Board of Elections no later than Friday, March 7. Registration with the county is permanent and entitles the registrant to vote in all general elections on village, town, state and federal levels.

Sewanhaka High School PTSA presents Supermarket Fun Night on Friday. March 7. Doors open at 6 p.m. Games begin at 7 p.m. in the Sewanhaka High School Student Cafeteria, 500 Tulip Ave. in Floral Park. Admission is $5 and includes two boards, coffee, dessert, and door prizes. Raffles and 50/50 will be available. Call 516-488-9607 for tickets. Proceeds support the Senior Scholarship Fund. No one under 18 will be admitted.


Sunday, March 9

The FISH of Floral Park annual member meeting will be held on March 9 at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church (use the Violet Ave. entrance). The guest speaker will be Nick Stavola of Allstate Insurance Agency, discussing insurance and volunteer driving. Light refreshments will be served.


Tuesday, March 11

The Bellerose-Floral Park Center Lions Club meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. The next meeting will be held on March 11. Contact the chapter’s president at 516-532-7046 for more information.

The Floral Park Library Board will hold their public meeting on March 12 at the library at 7:30 p.m.

The Zoning Board of Appeals for the Village of Floral Park will be held on March 12 in the Village Court Room at 8 p.m.


Thursday, March 13

The Floral Park-Bellerose School District Board of Education meeting will be held on Thursday, Mar. 13 at 8 p.m at John Lewis Childs School.


Saturday, March 15

The Our Lady Of Victory (OLV) School Board is sponsoring the Third Annual Tom Hayden 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament on Saturday, March 15. This year’s honorees will be George Rettinger and Joe Power, in memoriam. The cost is $200 per team. Five players per team are allowed. The proceeds will be used to enhance and maintain the school’s cutting-edge technology program. Games will begin at 9 a.m. The past two tournaments brought in several CYO teams from the 1970s and 80s to honor their coaches. Live too far away, or cannot play? Why not sponsor a team? Floral Park’s AARP Chapter

5224 will celebrate St. Paddy’s Day with a corned beef and rye sandwich luncheon at the Floral Park Recreation Center on March 17 at 1 p.m. Ham and Swiss sandwiches will also be available. Cost is $18 per person. Call Bernice Hayes before March 13 for reservations at 516-354-3212.
