Raymond Vincent Charbonneau

Raymond Vincent Charbonneau, 82, of Cary, NC, formerly of Manhasset, passed away March 24, 2014. He was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, on June 25, 1931 to the late Edward and Florence Charbonneau. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and served his country during the Korean War. Ray was an active member of the Marine Corps League.

Ray was pre-deceased by his beloved wife, Joan, of 59 years and his brothers, Edward and Robert Charbonneau. He leaves behind his devoted children, Thomas (Geralyn), Manhasset, Ann (Brian) Dolan, Melville, Jayne (William) O’Donnell, North Branford Ct. Mary Elizabeth (John) McDonnell Cary, NC, and Michele (Todd) Wysmuler, Madison CT, 16 loving grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his devoted son, Raymond Jr. (Carroll) and grandson Thomas Jr.

He is also survived by his caring sisters-in-law Anne (Joseph) Flood and Barbara (Frank) Carroll.

Ray and Joan lived in Manhasset for 14 years and were engaged in many community activities. In the late 1960’s, Ray served as Manhasset PBC president where he coached football and instilled his love of the game to many young men.

Ray was a proud graduate of Fordham Prep (1949) and Fordham University (1953). He was recognized as a faithful son of Fordham and remained active in alumni activities throughout his life. His career as a telecommunications sales executive brought him first to Manhasset, then Madison, Connecticut and eventually to Cary, North Carolina.

A Mass of Christian Burial took place Friday, March 28, 2014 at St. Michael’s R.C. Church, Cary, NC.
