Roadwork Around The Area

workRoadwork around Manhasset is rampant. With the roads torn up by the severe winter and the construction from the PSEG Reliability Project, roads have been congested to the point where one to two mile back ups occur on a regular basis. Potholes have created dangerous situations with cars drifting into oncoming traffic to avoid potholes.

The roads in and around Manhasset are covered under different jurisdictions. Northern Boulevard is a state road. Park Avenue in Munsey Park is a village road. Park Avenue outside of the village is Town of North Hempstead jurisdiction.

On Searingtown Road by the Americana, a Nassau County road, cars heading toward Port Washington are backed up to Christopher Morley Park. The photo on the right shows the construction signs narrowing the two lanes of traffic to one. Phone calls to Nassau County Road works 571-6900 had no information on the activity.

The newly reconstructed intersection at Plandome and Stonytown Roads has been defined but the traffic lights are not yet operational.

A stretch of Park Avenue was repaved due to the severity of the potholes on the roadway.

With budgets stretched from the strain of the snowiest winter on record, how much can be done to improve the roadways without raising taxes.
