It’s Time for Tea
The Oyster Bay Historical Society’s spring exhibition, It’s Time for Tea!, is open at the Koenig Center, 20 Summit St., through June 8. It features ceramics by members of the Long Island Craft Guild’s Clay Media Group, and several miniature teapots by famed studio potter Fong Chee. Most items are for sale. Fabulous Interiors At Coe Hall
Coe Hall Mansion at Planting Fields hosts an exhibit through Sept. 30 featuring Fabulous Interiors by Elsie de Wolfe and Charles Duveen, 1915 – 1945 is open daily at Coe Hall from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Admission to the exhibit is free with $4 Coe Hall admission fee. The Tea House near the Italian Garden is open daily from 12:30 to 2 p.m.; entrance to the Tea House is free with $8 parking fee.
Watercolor Orchids
Now through May 12, you can view 30 watercolors of orchids by Andrey Avinoff at the Coe Hall Manor House at Planting Field Arboretum Historic State Park. Many of the specimens, were owned by William R. Coe. Free with $8 admission to the park. For information call 922-8680.
Pop-Up Gallery
East Norwich hosts a pop-up store, the At-Home-Gallery at 6306 25A, opposite Rothmann’s now through July, or by appointment. It features abstract oil paintings by Roslyn-born Jill S. Krutick and rugs by Heirloom, a premier Antique European and Oriental Rug Showroom, formerly of East Norwich and now of Locust Valley. A reception, and wine tasting, will be hosted on Sunday, June 1 from 1 to 4 p.m. with the artist. For information call 914-522-0420.

Valley Quilters and Knitters

After School Shell Craft
Inspired by the Caribbean shell crafts brought back by sailors to Long Island, the Oyster Bay Historical Society invites young artists, grades 1 to 3, to create a masterpiece from the bounty of the sea. Design seascapes, flowers or a lighthouse of different shells and dried natural elements, framed for display or giving. The fee, $15 per child, with supplies and snack. Weather permitting, held on the lawn behind the Earle-Wightman house and Colonial garden from 3:45 to 5 p.m., 20 Summit St. Space is limited so please contact the Society for details or reservations at 516-922-5032.

LI Mansion Lecture
Orin Finkle, Gold Coast historian, will present a lecture and DVD show at Mill Neck Manor of period photos of Long Island mansions, gardens and the people who designed and built these great estates. A docent-led tour of the Manor House begins the evening at 6:30 p.m., followed by Orin’s presentation at 7:30. Reservations are required with tickets at $30 each, so please call 628-4243. Oheka Chronicles
The Oyster Bay Historical Society hosts author Frank Amoroso, speaking about his historical novel, Behind Every Great Fortune, the first of a trilogy, on May 8, at 7 p.m., at the Koenig Center, at 20 Summit St. Light refreshments will be provided. Copies of the book will be available for signing. The novel lets you meet Otto Hermann Kahn, builder of Oheka, Margaret Sanger, Vaslav Nijinsky, Mata Hari, the mad monk Rasputin, and Commander James “Strafe” Oliver. The book presents a fresh look at the seminal events that shaped the world 100 years ago. General admission, $15; members, $10. Nitromania Junior
The OB-EN Boys & Girls Club will hold Nitromania Junior at the Bahnik Youth Center for members on May 9, courtesy of Mr. and Mrs. William Quinn. It includes a 28-foot Rocky Mountain Rockwall; a 5-in1 Jurassic Combo Unit; Treasure Hunt Island Obstacle. The event is for grades K-3 at 6 p.m.; and grades 4 to 10 from 8 to 10 p.m. Admission fee is $17 until May 2, and then $27. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase. Thrift Fair
The First Presbyterian Church’s 31st Annual Thrift Fair (60 East Main Street) on May 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Items include: clothing, household items, toys, collectibles, furniture, tools, sporting equipment, baked goods. Refreshments available. All proceeds go toward mission projects, especially the Glen Cove Men’s Shelter, said the Rev. Jeffrey Prey. For information call 922-5477.
Tree Planting Ceremony
There will be a Tree Planting Ceremony at the Locust Valley Library to mark the building’s 100th year of providing community service, from 2 to 4 p.m. Reception to follow in the Community Room.
Charity Concert, Morgan Park
The Music For Life charity concert will be held on Saturday, May 10 at 4 p.m. in Morgan Memorial Park, Germaine St., Glen Cove, featuring 15 different musical acts from Locust Valley High School. Admission fee: $8. All proceeds from this event will go toward sponsoring Team CasoLearning. They will also be selling baked goods and will be raffling off gift certificates to local businesses and restaurants.

The Long Island Daylily Society will hold an auction on prized daylilies from local and national hybridizers. This is an opportunity to buy daylilies below their value.
