Rev. Dr. Theodore S. Grant, longtime Hicksville resident and 32 year member of the Hicksville Fire Department passed away on April 16, 2014.
Rev. Dr. Grant joined Heavy Rescue Company 8 and the Hicksville Fire Department as Department Chaplain in 1982. Since then he has served tirelessly in this role. From the Annual Memorial Day Service to the wakes and funerals of members and their relatives, his presence has been a staple in the Hicksville Fire Department for the past 32 years. He has also been a member of the fire police since 1993.
Rev. Dr. Grant has been a source of invaluable advice and counseling to the fire department and the community for over 55 years having served as a minister at the Redeemer Lutheran Church, the Parkway Community Church as well as many other congregations. He also served on numerous county, community and professional boards and committees over the years, and was founder and chairman of the Ecumenical Consultation Center in Hicksville and founder of Wally’s Circle providing innovative support to Alzheimer’s patients.
In addition to Nancy, his wife of over 60 years, Rev. Dr. Grant is survived by his brother, 3 children, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was deeply devoted to his family and the community and will be missed by all.
