HarborFest Draws Record Crowd

harborA picture perfect day was in order for Port Washington’s 24th annual HarborFest on the town dock.

This important Port Washington annual event brought out an estimated 15,000 residents and visitors—a record showing—and scores of vendors and organizations.

Included in the day’s events, which take months to plan, was “Art in the Park” and over 100 craft booths.

Port’s HarborFest would not have been complete without some activities on the bay. They included rides on the schooner Soundwaters, which provided a pretty picture when its sails were raised.

Port Washington’s water taxi, the Charles II, was on hand to motor people around the bay, as well.

On the smaller and lower to the water side of things, Atlantic Outfitters offered attendees a chance to try kayaking. To teach kids about boating and have fun, the annual Model Boat Regatta was hosted on Baxter Pond where children got to sail boats made of milk cartons.

Children enjoyed themselves with castle bounce and games while parents watched their children take center stage singing and dancing throughout the afternoon.

There was plenty of food to go around on the north side of the dock where Ayhan’s Shish Kebab, Gino’s Pizza Veloce, LI Festival Catering, Port Youth Activities, the Manhasset Bay Sportsmen’s Club, Rosie’s Food Truck, Ralph’s Italian Ices, Sweet Comfort and treats from the Crazy Cakes Food Truck were on hand.
