Joanne Gallo of Oyster Bay took home the first place award plaque in the women’s 65-69 age group in the 23rd annual David Lerner Associates Long Island Police Appreciation 5 Kilometer Run, which was held at Eisenhower Park on the evening of June 5.
Gallo crossed the finish line in 28 minutes, 1 second, 32 seconds in front of Abby Gonzalez of Dix Hills, who scored second in the age group.
The run was conducted by the Greater Long Island Running Club, under the sponsorship of David Lerner Associates, the outstanding Syosset corporate citizen whose generous support for this event over the years has made it possible for the run to have donated more than $300,000 over the years to law enforcement officers and their families in time of personal emergency.
A large contingent from David Lerner Associates was on hand at the run to complement big teams from the Nassau Police Running Club and the NYPD Running Club.
