In the interest of extra safety, Port Washington North is going to be the first village on the peninsula to require all businesses to have digital carbon monoxide alarms.
The village already held a public hearing on the measure and adopted it at its board meeting last week. The law takes effect Jan. 1. The village did not address residences, since they are already required to have the alarms by state code.
