Children’s Story Times

Make Rice Krispie Treats
Make Snap Crackle Pop Firecracker Rice Krispie Treats at the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Library. For grades 5-12 as of Sept. 2014; 4 to 5 p.m. Shape Rice Krispies into the shape of a firecracker. OB Band Concerts

During a transatlantic flight from New York City to London, U.S. Air Marshal Bill Marks receives a series of cryptic text messages demanding that he instruct the government to transfer $150 million into an off-shore account. Sail For Deafness
This is the deadline to sign up for the Sail the Sound for Deafness event on Aug. 7 and receive early bird discounts. Lego Club

Dancing In The Street
The Oyster Bay Main Street Association presents “Dancing In The Street,” a series of free dance evenings on Audrey Avenue around the bandstand on Fridays in July from 7 to 9 p.m. Singles and couples, dancers of all ages, skills and styles are welcome. Sponsored by BMW of Oyster Bay, street candy will include their newest model cars on display. Louis del Prete takes the stage on July 25. An excellent ballroom dancer and teacher, he is also a talented musician and singer. He will play music from the 1940s to today, including line dancing, Latin music, ballroom, and more. Bayville Car Show

Music Under The Stars
The Incorporated Village of Bayville Presents: Music Under the Stars, an annual free summer concert series at West Harbor Memorial Park in Bayville. This week’s performers are Ladies Drink Free (funk band from SUNY Potsdam). The concerts are Friday evenings from 8 to 10 p.m. (weather permitting) and are free to the general public. In case of inclement weather, cancellations will be posted on the village’s website, www.bayvilleny.gov.

Annual Chicken BBQ
For the 34th year, the Village Church of Bayville is serving delicious chicken dinners at their Annual Chicken BBQ on Saturday, July 26 from 4 to 7 p.m. Adult diners can feast on grilled chicken, potato salad, tomato slices, French bread, corn on the cob and a soft drink, all for $15. A slightly smaller children’s serving is available for $7. Diners can take out or eat in at the Heidi Relyea Memorial Park adjacent to the church on 9 Mountain Ave., Bayville, rain or shine. The Great War
The Oyster Bay Historical Society, 20 Summit St., presents a special silent film screening of The Great War, a documentary on WWI on July 28. This rarely seen footage from 1919 includes scenes from battles in the “No Man’s Land” of Meuse-Argonne and Chateau-Thierry; a trip on the U.S.S. Leviathan; the sinking of battleships by U-Boats as well as the capture of German prisoners and Armistice Day celebrations. Popcorn and soft drinks served. Cruise Night
Cruise Night held weekly on Audrey Avenue now through Sept. 30. The fee is $5 per vehicle and visitors are free. Magic And Comedy
The Town of Oyster Bay presents the magic and comedy of Jim McClenahan on July 30 at the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park at 1:30 p.m. Free. This is an original approach to learning and is for children of all ages.
