Broadway came to Sands Point recently, when a very talented cast of eight singers (their dance steps were quite good, too) spent the evening providing ballads, up-tempo numbers and ensemble pieces from some of the greatest shows to grace the Great White Way.
The cast even included a Port resident, Rachael Zampino, who said it was great “to sing for my friends, and to only have to travel five minutes to get here.”
The show, “Broadway Showstoppers,” held in Castle Gould, had a zest that was evident even in the audience, with members humming along or nodding their heads knowingly when a favorite was sung.
The numbers were a cornucopia of when makes Broadway great, ranging from “Some Enchanted Evening,” from South Pacific to “I Am What I Am,” from La Cage aux Folles.
