Manhasset artist Linda Giacalone will be featured at the Heckscher Museum of Art and Cinema Arts Centre’s Long Island Biennial 2014 in Huntington. On view Aug. 16 through Nov. 30, this juried exhibition features work from artists and filmmakers of Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Giacalone’s Portrait of a Young Woman is featured at the show.
Inaugurated in 2010, the Long Island Biennial offers Long Island’s contemporary artists and filmmakers an opportunity to share their work with a broad public, deepening the connections among artists and between artists and the communities where they live. Jurors Dan Christoffel, Artist-in-Residence, Adjunct Professor, LIU Post; Renato Danese, Danese Corey, New York; and Helen A. Harrison, Director, Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center, East Hampton, will select paintings, sculpture, photography, mixed media work, and works on paper for the exhibition.
Partner Cinema Arts Centre will jury and screen film and video entries. Museum hours: Wednesday – Friday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Monday and Tuesday the museum is closed.
