Mary L. Sergi, 74, of Beaver Falls, Penn. passed away the morning of Oct. 6 at Good Samaritan Hospice at Heritage Valley. Born in Manhattan, N.Y. on Jan. 26, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Josephine Sabatino Ramirez.
In 1966, she married her beloved husband, Lawrence Sergi, and the two spent over 46 wonderful years together until he preceded her in death on April 9, 2013. Mary grew up in Washington Heights, N.Y. and eventually settled in Manhasset, N.Y. to raise her family. She retired as an administrative assistant for the Nassau County Police Department Detective Unit for the 6th Precinct.
Mary had a keen eye for fashion and had been employed at Macy’s Department Store where she won Salesperson of the Year in Manhasset. She belonged to St. Mary’s Church in Manhasset.
Known as a wonderful cook and hostess, Mary loved to entertain. She also loved music, art, dancing, and traveling.
Mary is survived by her children, Christine Gillow and husband Jeff of Castle Pines, Colorado and Andrea Piccione and husband Tom Jr. of Chippewa Township, Penn.; grandchildren Thomas Michael Piccione III and Christopher Lawrence Piccione; sister-in-law Beatrice Ramirez; and niece Leonora of Staten Island, N.Y.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her brother, Michael Ramirez. A memorial service will be held at a later date at St. Charles Resurrection Cemetery in Farmingdale, N.Y.
