Letter: Stranger Danger

On Oct. 30, at approximately 3:00 p.m., a Farmingdale High School student, after exiting the school bus, reported that a man in a dark-colored four-door SUV crossover-type car was parked near the corner of Secatogue Avenue and Hallock Street. The car pulled up next to the student, whistled and called to the student. The student did not recognize the driver, so the student continued home. The police were notified.

It is always a good idea to periodically review safety concerns with your children. Now seems to be an appropriate time. Please have a conversation with your child and remind him or her of the importance of bringing any concerns or information they might have to an adult in school or at home.

The Farmingdale School District’s school psychologists, social workers, counselors and staff are available to assist any student who needs to discuss this or similar incidents.
