Manhasset resident Matthew Falcone has tossed his hat into the ring for the upcoming Manhasset Park District commissioner slot. Falcone a 40-year resident has a lot to say about how the community needs to work together and improve the parking situation here in Manhasset.
Falcone, is the current commander of the American Legion Post 304 in Manhasset. The Brooklyn born native moved here with his wife Grace (deceased) to raise their daughter Denise through the Manhasset School system. Falcone has a Bachelor of Science degree from the State University of New York—Empire State College in Labor Studies. His background as assistant superintendent, superintendent and general superintendent for a a number of electric companies including Forest Electric and Courtlight Electric
and Broadway Maintenance provides him with a deep understanding how to run an organization and make things work.
A decorated Marine and Vietnam veteran, Falcone has worked for the government after he was discharged before he went into the electrical industry. He has been the past president of the Keystone Club, an organization of foreman and supervisor in electrical construction. He was the Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus—fourth degree and the past president of the Futurian Society of New York.
He is civic minded as a member of the Bayview Civic Association and ushers at St. Mary’s Church. He is a member of North Hempstead Country Club. He teaches defensive driving at Manhasset Public Library and St. Mary’s. With his obvious leadership qualities he decided to run for the position “to make a difference.”
Falcone believes that the people
of Manhasset should make the
decision. “I know how to get people motivated.” says Falcone. The space that the park district has is too small to have a general meeting, he suggests it should be held at the Manhasset Public Library instead where people can gather and discuss the issues. Falcone is interested in
working “for the benefit of the people.”
