County Seat Kiwanis recently hosted Joan Flynn, volunteer & community relations manager for Island Harvest and Sidney Glee, donor relations director for the Salvation Army. Flynn spoke about food collection and distribution throughout Long Island.
The interesting topic of food rescue was discussed. This is the gathering of non-compromised food that can be distributed to the local food banks and kitchens.
Glee spoke about the continuing work of the Salvation Army and their efforts to combat hunger on Long Island as well as their ongoing clothing drives and anti-bullying campaign to name but a few.
