Hicksville Community Council Meeting
The Hicksville Community Council will hold their monthly meeting. This month’s meeting will focus on a Substance Abuse Education Awareness Initiative, the speaker will be Detective Pamela Stark from the Nassau County Police Department of Community Affairs. The meeting takes place at the Hicksville Community Center, 28 West Carl St., Hicksville. 7 p.m.
German Genealogy Group Meeting
Presenter Richard Haberstroh will give a German Case Study presentation at this monthly meeting of the German Genealogy Group. The lecture will be a detailed account of a German-American research project, in which the family of a son of German immigrants is identified and traced back to their hometown in Europe. The talk will highlight the wide variety of records that were used in the research as well as the many surprises that were discovered along the way. Social Dancing
Every Friday afternoon from noon to 3 p.m. at Kismet Hall (located at 18 W. Nicholai Street) in Hicksville, there are dance classes for those 45 and older. Kick up your heels and join the fun. Enjoy a ballroom dance lesson taught by professional instructors, and then do some social dancing to a professional DJ on a large dance floor. Plaza Theatrical Productions brings to life the heartwarming story of the beloved wooden puppet, Pinocchio, magically brought to life. Enjoy this enchanting musical fairytale, and relive all of Pinocchio’s adventures as he runs off with a group of troublesome boys, is kidnapped by an evil coachman and is even swalled by a whale.
