A 16-year-old boy was fatally struck by an SUV while crossing a road in his hometown of Miller Place late Tuesday night.

Suffolk County police said John Luke was crossing Route 25A at the corner of Miller Place Road when he was hit by a westbound Chevrolet at 11:30 p.m.

The victim was taken to John T. Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver, 35-year-old Francesco Giulietti of Farmingville, was taken to to St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson, where he was treated for trauma and released.

Sixth Squad detectives impounded the truck, are continuing the investigation and ask anyone with information about this crash to call them at 631-854-8652.
