More Than Just Cars At Collector Car Showcase

Inside the Collector Car Showcase Museum on Pine Hollow Road, you will find an eye-popping display of vintage gas pumps, neon, tin and porcelain signs and other petroliana. Of course, you’ll also find an assortment of extraordinary collectable automobiles ranging from American muscle cars to Ferrari, Porsche, BMW and Packard’s. Rare and vintage advertising slogans also adorn the walls of the facility from automobile manufacturers and soda companies that date back to the early 1900s.

There are many special events that ake place at the 18,000-square-foot building owned by Oyster Bay resident David Jacobson, an avid collector of automobile memorabilia. On Friday, May 8, an event titled “Cars & Comedians” was held at the venue and many local comedians had the crowd in stitches with their stand-up acts.

“After our official opening nine weeks ago, we’ve had a few great events here like the Cars & Comedians and we plan on having many more,” said Mike Breen, the event manager. “We buy and sell cars here, hold special events and charity events and we offer a multitude of automotive services, including car washing, custom detailing, audio and electronics installation, light customization and body protection in our state-of-the-art service center.”

Breen said that there was a need for an automotive museum like this, which holds a rare collection of unique cars.

“There is nothing like this on Long Island. We are bringing something here to the East Coast that rivals what they have in California,” said Breen. “We thought Oyster Bay would be a perfect fit with Billy Joel’s 20th Century Cycles here and the Cruise Night’s that are held every summer.”

Currently, there are a variety of ‘60s and ‘70s cars on display at the museum behind the velvet ropes, with each one holding its own historical significance.

Annual club membership to the museum ranges from $150 for premium membership to $1,500 for the 100 Octane memberships. Members are allowed access to a lounge area and the first floor where more cars are on display and a working slot car racetrack is available for use.

Upcoming events at the museum include their first race car display on Friday, June 5, and a Racecars & Reggae Night on Sunday, June 14, which will feature a band and plenty of traditional Jamaican food.

Collector Car Showcase operates five days a week. Hours of operation and other information can be found on their website, www.collectorcarshowcase.com.
