Motorists are advised that the eastbound Long Island Expressway (LIE/I-495) mainline will be closed Sunday, August 30, 2015 at Exit 46/Sunnyside Boulevard in the Town of Oyster Bay, Nassau County. All eastbound travel lanes will be closed between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. and motorists will be detoured at Exit 46 around the Sunnyside Boulevard Bridge using the LIE south service road then guided back to the LIE mainline. Motorists are urged to use alternate routes or they will experience temporary delays.
These nightly LIE closures are needed to perform major repairs to the Sunnyside Boulevard Bridge over the LIE that was struck by a truck, in order to preserve its structural integrity and maintain the safety of motorists. As with most road work, this operation is weather dependent and may be canceled, postponed, or prolonged due to inclement weather. Emergency service providers and local officials have been notified of these travel lane closures. Motorists are being warned in advance via electronic message signs.

The New York State Department of Transportation appreciates the patience and cooperation of motorists during this important LIE bridge repair operation.
