The Church of St. Mary’s Youth Group headed by Maria Malaspina is taking 50 members of the Youth Group to Central Park to witness a part of history taking place in New York City and the United States when Pope Francis tours through Manhattan on Friday, September 25.
The group will gather at the Manhasset train station early in the morning and commute to New York by train and walk to Central Park where they will await the Pontiff’s motorcade which is scheduled to drive through the park around 5 p.m. before he says Mass at Madison Square Garden at 6 p.m.
Malaspina, who is the youth director, has spoken with her cousin who is with the New York City Police Department. He has reassured her that New York will be the safest place to be tomorrow. The enthusiasm of the director and the youth group is contagious as New York witnesses Papal Fever.
