Police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Monday night in New Cassel.
New Cassel’s Gomez Hurd was shot in front of 994 Prospect Ave. on Monday, Oct. 5 at approximately 6:16 p.m. When police arrived, they discovered 31-year-old- Hurd suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to Nassau University Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased at 6:42 p.m. by medical personnel.
Police say the shooting is still under investigation but that they believe it is not gang related.
